I'm moving in....

If you were too go and look in all of my photo albums, or in my locker, or in my room you would find pictures of animals hanging up. Usually horses, but there is the occasional dog, pig, or sheep poster hanging there too. Its weird and not so weird for me to like animals as much as I do. My mom is not an animal person at all and my dad likes dogs and thats about it. So the love that I have for all animals except snakes didnt come from my parents.
Now my grandparents are a different story. To this day my grandparents only have a cat or a dog but they all grew up farming. So maybe my attraction to the four legged animals come from them. I cant exactly pin point the exact location of my interest in animals but surely it stems from somewhere.
It all started when I was just a wee tot. We had a dog and I loved here dearly but that was not enough I wanted more. An animal with a lot more mass. So the results were in I had the common little girl syndrome, I wanted a horse. But with no money and no acreage a horse was an impossible dream. I couldnt fathom not having a horse. How could I live? How could I breathe? I went on begging and begging. Every year for my birthday and for Christmas I begged for a horse but in every gift that I unwrapped there was no horse to be found.
My dream as a child was that I would wake up to find that I had no gifts under the tree and my mom would lead me outside and I would find my horse standing there. He was black with four white socks. But each morning when I woke I would find that it was just a dream. So I went on but the dream never stopped. I loved horses but I loved all other animals too. So every hurt or lost animal that I found I brought home to help it out.
Everything I did revolved around animals. All of my toys were based on animals usually horses. I loved my little ponies that was the only girl cartoon I watched and I only watched it because it had horses. The books and coloring books were about horses.
Well I got older and still no horse. My parents got divorced and we moved to the country, where my mom grew up. There was a man named Travis he came up to the property that my grandparents owned to work the cattle a couple times a year.
It was during summer and my brother and I ventured up to the barn to see what was going on. We had not lived in Elkton long at this point. Imagine my surprise when I ventured up to the barn and I seen three horses standing there. It was a dream come true. We did the whole greeting thing and then Travis offered to let us ride the horse. So we went for a little ride and I loved it. That was my first time to ride a horse by myself.
I loved to ride and I wanted to ride more. It confirmed my love for horses even more. We got to ride a few more times. Most people that ride at the Baimbridge ranch start out on a slow horse but I didnt. I stared out on Shadow she was a little wired and she liked to test her riders. But that didnt matter to me. I think that at this point I would have rode a wild mustang.
I ran back down to the house to tell my mom about my new adventure. Well mom and Travis became friends and it opened a whole New World for me. A world of four legged furry animals, it was called a FARM. Along with all of these animals were 14 horses. They were all beautiful to me. I loved all of the horses but I liked all of the other animals too.
The sheep is what we usually worked with but I enjoyed that too. It didnt take long until I found myself as a surrogate mother too a few baby lambs that werent fortunate to get to have a mom. I loved taking care of them it was like I had children. I fed them at seven every morning and night and I spent a lot of time putting them back in the pen when they got out, but that didnt stop me from loving animals. The longer I was around Travis the more I loved animals and that led too bringing more animals home. Which didnt thrill mom.
It wasnt long until I had acquired three lambs and five goats on top of the dog and two cats that we already owned, and then what set is complete with out a few rabbits. My mini farm was growing bigger and so was my knowledge base. I learned the simple things like rabbits teeth never quit growing, sheep have to be sheared in the summer, and when breeding rabbits you never take the buck to the does cage.
I began horse 4-H with one of my Grandpas horses. One week before I was to go to show my horse. The horse bowed a tendon and couldnt be rode. So grandpa decided to not let me use his horses anymore. That meant that it was time for me to buy my own horse.
I began looking in the paper and I found a pregnant mare that would be perfect for me. Travis did the financing and I brought her home. She is a beautiful palomino named Sassy and to this day I still have her, I bought Sassy for $1350.00. After about eight months she had a beautiful baby boy. He was a palomino just like his mom.
At this point I decided that it was time that I have another horse. As fate had it one lucky day a women stopped to tell us that the cow were out. She saw the horses in the field and stared talking about her friend who had horses. As the conversation went on I found out that this lady had some horses for sale.
Mom didnt think that another horse was a good idea. But it was a shot in the dark. Again Travis said he would finance it. My mom, sister, Lisa my friend, and me went to the coast to take a look at the horse. The lady wanted $2000.00 for the horse. Red the horse that I was looking at was bred and had a baby at the side. I fell in love with her and she bought.
Red was only six and still a baby compared to Sassy who was a seasoned mare at the age of twelve. So Red was more of a pill. The people that I brought Red from were not very good to her, so that contributed to my problems also.
Sassy became the horse that all novice riders that came to the ranch got to ride and I rode Red because she was for a more advanced rider. So I invited friends to go with me and we had a blast.
I wanted a dog so I begged mom and she finally said yes. I wanted to get a husky but Travis talked me into getting a Border Collie. It happened to be at that time that there was a ranch near by that had Border collie pups that they were giving away. I got K.C. when she was four weeks old. She was so cute and so little. She could barely make it up the steps. No she is three years old and the steps are no longer a challenge. K.C. and I do a lot together. She thinks she is hot stuff when she rides in the car or helps me with the animals. The horses fascinate her, like me.
In the 7th grade I began to show Market lambs. I did that for three years and them once again Travis talked me into showing a Makes hog, which I showed for two years. Pigs are really smart animals and they are a lot of fun to show. I also began to show rabbits. I showed my rabbits off and on for the last couple of years.
I ended up selling the little palomino colt. The filly that came with red was killed in a trailing accident and the baby that Red was pregnant with when I got her was given to grandpa in exchange for hay and pasture.
Now I am a senior in High School. I have to do senior projects which means that you have to pick some kind of project and write a five page report on it and do what is talked about in your paper. I give you one guess as to what I picked? Well it was horses. I am now taking riding lessons and try to work with my horses three times a week. I still own both of them.
I plan to go to college in Wyoming and complete two years in equine studies coarse. Then I would like to go to Rhode Island and complete two more years of college. When I am done with school I want to have my own ranch. I want to be a lesson instructor I want to help all kids and adults dreams of horses to come true. I am certainly glad that mine did!

K.C.
This is my dog K.C. Like I said up above she is a Border Collie. This picture was taken this summer right before we got ready to go swimmimg. My sister and I thought that she was really cute but she didn't think that she was that cute. K.C. likes to swim but it has to be on her own terms. K.C. knows the basic dog tricks like sit, stay, and when she goes up stairs I say shhhhh and she walks really quiet. Oh and if you tell her to go to bed she will.

Pictures

Here is a few pictures of my bummer lambs. We oftern dressed them up and then took them to the Grade shcool and show them the lambs. They love to feed them with the baby bottles and the lambs love it too.
